Ben's passion for wildlife photography began when his father gave him a second hand camera at the age of 10. This, combined with his insatiable wanderlust, somewhat quirky desire to be in extreme environments and his strong affiliation with our natural world, is what drives him to capture his images in some of its most remote places.
Recent photographic accomplishments include winning firstplace for the Bird Portraits category and second place for the Mammal Portraits category in the 2010 Africa Geographic Photography Competition. He received the runner up award for his Animals in their Environment image in the 2010 Veolia Environnement Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition.
Ben has a Highly Honoured image in this year's Windland Smith Rice International Awards' Wildlife category. One of his musk oxen images entitled "Vie for Dominance" in on display at the awards exhibition at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington, DC.
Another musk oxen image "Contest" has also just been selected as an Animal World finalist in the prestigious 22nd Edition of the Memorial Maria Luisa competition, along with "Yellowstone Coyote" and "Golden Eagle" in the Biodiversity category.
"Take nothing but pictures. Leave nothing but footprints. Kill nothing but time."
